Confirmation is the 4th Sacrament offered to our young people on their journey of faith development. The gifts of the Holy Spirit initially given to the child in Baptism are given again with greater power as the young adult is now more ready to understand what their faith is about.
John the Baptist said “I baptise you with water, but one more powerful than I will come…and he will baptise with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
In the upper room when Pentecost happened the disciples changed from being full of fear to full of the Spirit; their weak faith became more alive and this we hope is what will happen to all who receive Confirmation, in one way or another.
Confirmation usually takes place for students in year 10 of the education and the parish has a great team who run a short course over a couple of months for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoons.
Confirmation is a wonderful sacrament and a powerful statement by the young people to affirm for themselves what was said for them by their parents in Baptism.
